Dedicated to Presenting Solo and Chamber Music, Featuring the Double Bass or the Cello
"Compositions that Challenge and Inspire for a Life-Time of Performance"
In 1989, double bass professor, composer, and virtuoso soloist, Patrick Neher, established Imagination Services Group, a small company dedicated to providing services to support the arts community. Using video and audio recording, he and his partners developed promotional materials for numerous arts organizations of various kinds, including Zenith Dance, the International Society of Bassists, the San Francisco Symphony Young Bassists Project, the Rabbath Institute, and the Tucson Philharmonia Youth Orchestra. With a trademark of BMR manufacturing, Imagination Services Group developed the revolutionary "L-bracket" BMR Bass Wheel, which subsequently was remarketed by Lemur Music, California, and Ideal Music, New York, as the Onyx and Easy Rider bass wheels. Both of these are unauthorized copies of ISG's invention.
In 1998, Imagination Services Group stopped manufacturing and video production to dedicate its resources and mission to the promotion and publication of music of contemporary artists. ISG Publications (registered with ASCAP as ISG Music Promotions) expanded offerings to include more works by contemporary composers who write music specifically for the double bass and/or the cello in prominent musical roles. The roster of composers writing chamber music, pedagogical, or solo works for bass or for cello has grown considerably, particularly after an international call for scores, which provided ISG with over 150 submissions in just a few months. Only works that fit our stated goals of "challenge and prominent roles for double bass or for cello," receive contract for publication. We also consider works of non-living composers if the work meets the "challenge" and "prominent" criteria.
ISG Publications and ISG Music Promotions is dedicated to presenting living composers' music through the publication of sheet music and compact discs. We organize performances of the sheet music we publish, we market the music to professors, schools, libraries, festivals, and individuals. We provide venues for forum, and we provide workshops for musicians to enhance their creativity. We focus our publications toward cello and double bass because the repertory for those instruments needs bolstering, but it provides new music for other instruments and voice as well.
We are a small company with a big goal: to provide exciting, interesting, challenging music that will inspire a life-time of performance. We are dedicated to keeping the prices of our products as low as possible so that musicians can afford to buy and use them. We publish on acid free (for longevity), bright-white paper, with logical performance page-turns, and in large print ... again, for performance.
Our web-site goal is to provide a quick-loading, no-nonsense catalog, with a secure and easy purchase experience.
